Places Gay Couples Should Go on a First Date
Let’s face it being gay and dating isn’t exactly like being straight and dating (although it’s getting better). Your first date shouldn’t have to be a maneuvering in political activism, it should just be an enjoyable evening (or day) with someone you’re interested in, so here are some places that gay and lesbian couples can have a good time on their first date:
- The Movies. Who doesn’t love a good movie? The old standby Dinner and a Movie is an old standby because it’s time tested and works. Picking the right movie can be a trick, but other than that it lets you get close, slide your fingers together in the popcorn bowl, touch softly and just…relax. Now, if you‘re in a city that still has a drive in…well, you may get just a little bit more action than that!
- Dinner. Ref. above for possible dating combo package. Eating out at a gay friendly establishment enables you to enjoy good food (and everyone loves good food), as well as, chit chat between bites. It puts everyone in a good mood—that’s what food does, after all.
- Museums. Museums are always romantic places to take a date. Depending on your date’s interest and your city the field can be wide open. Does he or she like dinosaurs? Natural history museums are the place to go? Are they art freaks? Cities are filled with art galleries and museums.
- Tiffany’s. Just kidding. Save Tiffany’s for after he or she meets Mom. But seriously, as Holly Golightly said in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”: Nothing very bad could ever happen to you there.
- The Farmer’s Market. Going shopping at the Farmer’s Market is a great way to support local farmers, your economy, and have a lot of fun. You can buy artisan cheeses, fresh meats, jams, fruits, veggies, and flowers. Seriously, what adult doesn’t have fun shopping at Farmer’s Market’s? Someone with no soul, that’s who!
- Clubs. If you like to get your boogie on (and your partner does, too) then hitting up a club to go dancing is a great first date idea. Dancing can be incredibly liberating and freeing. It touches the human spirit. Plus, its best to get your poor dancing skills out in the open right away so it doesn’t come back to haunt you later.
